Boston City Council Vets Three Audit Committee Nominees at Virtual Hearing

BOSTON -- March 13, 2025, Boston City Council panel advances three Audit Committee nominations toward a full council vote. City Council President Liz Breadon, chairing the post-audit committee, led a virtual hearing Thursday on the nominations of Janet Peguero, a Roslindale cleaning-company owner with 29 years in business, and Samantha Reamer, a Jamaica Plain nonprofit director and former finance director for Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, as new members, alongside the reappointment of Lawrence De Cara. All three appointments were sponsored by Mayor Michelle Wu. Councillor Gabriela Coletta Zapata pressed Peguero on whether she would issue a report critical of a sitting mayor or councillor, Peguero answered, "Transparency is key." Councillor Edward M. Flynn said he was "looking forward to supporting Janet" when the full council votes, expected Wednesday, March 19.
