Boston Disability Board Votes to Recruit Abilities Expo Back to City

BOSTON -- March 12, 2025, Boston's Disability Commission Advisory Board voted unanimously to send a letter inviting the Abilities Expo back to the city after a roughly seven-year absence. Disability Commissioner Kristen McCosh told the board that a previous letter to the expo's former owner had gone unanswered due to convention center scheduling conflicts, but that new ownership makes a fresh ask worthwhile. Board member Carl Richardson made the motion; it passed without opposition. The board, chaired for the evening by Vice Chair Olivia Richard in place of newly elected Chair Jerry Boyd, also heard a presentation from the city's Office of Green Infrastructure on a state-funded flood mapping survey, available in seven languages and now being linked to the city's 311 app, and received details on an e-bike incentive program offering up to $5,000 in vouchers for adaptive bikes, with applications open April 1 through April 30.
