Boston PFC Approves Bridge Easements, Two Affordable Housing Extensions in January Session

BOSTON — January 11, 2023 — Boston Public Facilities Commission approves bridge easements and advances 37 affordable units in Dorchester. The commission, chaired by Catherine Craven, voted unanimously on three items at its January 11 meeting. Joseph Fiori of Boston Public Works and Brian Valancourt of AECOM presented four temporary construction easements at 226-234 Causeway Street and 1 Chelsea Street for the North Washington Street Bridge replacement, noting property values along the corridor have surged from roughly $100 to $270 per square foot since 2017, raising the combined easement value from $45,200 to $112,300. Traffic is scheduled to shift to the new bridge in December 2023, with full opening expected by end of 2024. The commission also approved an MOH request advancing a 15-unit affordable homeownership project at three city-owned sites, all restricted to buyers at or below 80 percent of AMI, and a 12-month extension of the developer designation for T. Lee Development LLC and Co. Everything LLC to build 22 condominiums and 1,500 square feet of ground-floor retail on Harvard and Standish streets in Dorchester, with all units capped at 90 percent AMI.
