Boston Public Facilities Commission Approves Sale of Two Long-Idle Parcels and Foreclosure Grant

BOSTON — May 20, 2026 — Boston Public Facilities Commission unanimously approved three Mayor's Office of Housing actions Wednesday, including a foreclosure prevention grant, a land sale, and a land conveyance. Commissioners Larry Momoli and Donald Wright voted 2-0 on each item. The commission approved accepting a $127,442 grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Banks for foreclosure prevention and intervention counseling — the 19th consecutive year MOH has received the award — though the grant is down from prior years as the state reduced its total foreclosure prevention pool from $3.5 million to $2.1 million statewide. Senior Project Manager Sylvia Adorno reported that 98 Boston homeowners avoided foreclosure through the program in the current fiscal year, with 44 percent obtaining loan modifications. The commission also approved a tentative developer designation to sell a vacant parcel at 94 Willowwood Street in Dorchester for $55,100 and the formal conveyance of a 4,095-square-foot parcel at 7 Waldron Road in Roxbury to Urban Edge Housing Corporation for $100, with a deed restriction permanently protecting the land as open space — both parcels having been in city inventory for more than 34 years.
