Boston School Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Boston School Committee advances Madison Park's 1,800-student rebuild plan. Chairperson Jerry Robinson's board voted 6-0 by roll call to approve a 22-program career and technical portfolio for Madison Park Technical Vocational High School, the next step toward a Massachusetts School Building Authority feasibility study that could bring construction by 2030. Superintendent Mary Skipper reported first-day attendance up 2.6 percentage points to 81.4 percent and bus on-time performance at 61 percent, the second-best on record, while acknowledging an Aug. 26 inspector general report on BPS procurement from 2019 to 2024 prompted a 10-day payment pause.

The board approved $4,997,984 in grants and $8,795 in Massachusetts Association of School Committees dues. Parent Christina Norris told the board 13 children were marked "dropped off" while still stranded on a bus: "Show us what you do now."
