Boston ZBA Clears Extensions, Confirms South Boston Relief, Opens Hyde Park Hearing
BOSTON — March 26, 2024 — Boston's Zoning Board of Appeal approved five one-year permit extensions and confirmed prior relief for a three-unit South Boston project at its March 26 remote hearing. The board, chaired by Kathleen Joyce and meeting via Zoom, granted the extensions — covering properties on North Washington Street, Meridian Street, Blue Hill Avenue, New England Avenue, and Spencer Street — in a single unanimous vote, with new deadlines running to mid-2025. Attorney Richard Lynds secured a unanimous "board final arbiter" ruling confirming that 2 Coppersmith Way needed no additional variance beyond what the board had already granted, clearing the path for a building permit on a four-story, three-unit residential project by Traquito Development. The board also ratified 16 subcommittee recommendations, then opened but did not vote on an Article 80 hearing for 735-745 River Street in Hyde Park, where Dr. Gene Bonet and his son Cliff Bonet are seeking to redevelop a site that has housed Dr. Bonet's cardiovascular and diabetes practice for more than 20 years.
