BOSTON — Latin Academy Dragons hold off O'Brien Tigers 50-43 in girls Boston North Division basketball, with senior Fiona Mannion earning MVP honors on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The game, broadcast on Boston City TV's Game of the Week from Latin Academy High School in Dorchester, was the second meeting of the season between the two programs — Latin Academy also won the first by a single point. Mannion was held to four points in the first half amid foul trouble, but scored 16 in the second half, finishing with 1,980 career points and seven assists.
O'Brien sophomore Lena Guerrero tallied 22 points and four assists in the losing effort, and center D.J. Russo pulled down 14 rebounds. Latin Academy head coach Bill Dever credited the crowd — the largest he had seen for a girls game at the school in his two-decade tenure — as the decisive factor in the fourth quarter.
