Alston-Brighton CDC acquires Allston lodging house for 14-unit recovery housing project

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Alston-Brighton CDC acquires 6 Quint Avenue in Allston for a 14-unit affordable recovery housing project. Executive Director John Woods announced the completed purchase at a community celebration attended by Mayor Kim Janey, District 9 City Councilor Liz Breadon, State Senators William Brownsberger and Sal DiDomenico, and representatives of more than a dozen partner organizations. The acquisition was financed through $2 million from the City of Boston's Department of Neighborhood Development and Community Preservation Act, $2 million from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, and $600,000 from the Davis Company as BPDA Article 80 mitigation funding, with a 100 percent acquisition bridge loan from Blue Hub Capital enabling the CDC to close before the full funding stack was in place. The building will be converted into 15 units, 14 of which carry project-based Section 8 vouchers from the Boston Housing Authority guaranteeing affordability for at least 20 years, with the 15th reserved for a live-in support staff member. Woods said roughly $2.5 million in renovation work lies ahead, with service partners including the Addiction Treatment Center of New England, Granada House Addiction Treatment Facilities, and Alston-Brighton Pauses planning to provide on-site and referral services to residents.
