BOSTON — Baker-Polito administration announces $60 million for 587 homes across Massachusetts, renewing pressure on zoning reform. Baker said frustration over three years of failed Housing Choice legislation — which would replace supermajority zoning-vote requirements with simple-majority thresholds — has left "a lot of stuff" unbuilt that otherwise would already be under construction or complete. State Senator Sal DiDomenico noted that nearly 80 percent of Massachusetts multifamily housing built in the past decade has been concentrated in just five communities, calling the figure "so shocking."
