Boston Public Facilities Commission approves $147,400 in contracts for repairs at three city schools. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to award a $20,000 owner project manager contract to Netco Construction Project Managers Inc. and a $127,400 design and construction administration contract to Raymond Design Associates Inc., both tied to the Massachusetts School Building Authority's 2019 Accelerated Repair Program. The three schools covered — McKinley K-12 in the South End, Curley K-8 in Jamaica Plain, and Mary Lyon in Brighton — need roof or boiler work, with one boiler system at Mary Lyon dating to 45 years old.

Project Manager Tom Kazimowski told the commission the city targets a schematic design submission to the MSBA by May 6, 2020, with construction projected for summer and early fall of 2021. The MSBA assigned both firms through its own procurement process after the Boston City Council appropriated $400,000 for the schematic design phase in September 2019. Commissioner Irish, the sole commissioner present for the votes, called the work "a great job taking advantage of this important program to reinvest in our schools."
