Boston EDIC and BPDA Board Approve 567 Housing Units and Saint Elizabeth's Parking Garage

Boston's development board cleared 567 new residential units and $252 million in projects at its June 2022 session. The Economic Development and Industrial Corporation and Boston Planning and Development Agency board, chaired by Priscilla Rojas and joined by members Landsmark, Monaghan, and Miller, voted unanimously on all 13 development projects, of which 210 units are income-restricted. Highlights included the Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center 2022-2026 Institutional Master Plan authorizing a 610-space, six-story parking garage with a new Boston EMS facility in Allston-Brighton; the Nuba Residences on Parcel 8 in Nubian Square, a 100-percent-affordable 114-unit mixed-use development with a new public park and artist live-work spaces; and adaptive reuse of the former Saint Vincent de Paul Church in South Boston into 35 rental units.

Director Arthur Jemison, in his first full board meeting since appointment, noted the board also approved over $875,000 square feet of combined space and 700 construction jobs, and flagged a citywide land audit covering 250 BPDA-owned sites announced by Mayor Michelle Wu the prior day.
