Boston Opens 54-Unit Affordable Senior Housing Building in Four Corners Dorchester

BOSTON — July 22, 2026 — Boston cuts ribbon on Hearth at Four Corners, a 54-unit affordable senior housing building in Dorchester. Mayor Kim Janey joined state Secretary of Housing and Community Development Michael Keneally and state Representative Russell Holmes at the July 22 ceremony for the nonprofit Hearth Inc.'s seventh Boston building, which serves seniors who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Fifty of the building's 54 income-restricted units were leased within three weeks of opening, far outpacing the five-month pace at Hearth's earlier Olmsted Green development, according to Hearth's president. Janey announced a $15.4 million supplemental appropriation to the FY22 city budget for housing, submitted to the Boston City Council, and highlighted that more than 65 percent of general contractor D.F. Prey's subcontractors on the project were people of color. Keneally cited the state's newly enacted Housing Choice zoning reform and nearly $1.5 billion in administration housing investment, calling the vacant-lot-to-54-unit transformation "a shining example of what's possible."
