Boston PFC Unanimously Approves Four D&D Votes Including Foreclosure Aid and Housing

Boston's Public Facilities Commission approved four Department of Neighborhood Development measures Wednesday, including a foreclosure counseling grant and two affordable housing developer designations. Chair Catherine Craven and Commissioner Larry Momoli, the only two members present, voted unanimously on all four items. Christine McCrory, Senior Project Manager with D&D's Boston Home Center Division, secured authorization to accept and expend a $190,921.33 state grant — the agency's 13th consecutive award — for foreclosure prevention counseling through nonprofit partners, noting that COVID-19 economic disruption was expected to sharply increase demand.

The commission also approved conveyance of four Roxbury parcels to DNI 4 Incorporated, a Dudley Neighbors community land trust subsidiary, for $400 to build a community garden with over 5,600 square feet of protected open space. Two tentative developer designations in Dorchester will together produce 28 new deed-restricted affordable units: 13 units for Boston Partnership for Community Reinvestment LLC across seven parcels, and 15 homeownership units for a nominee LLC comprising principals of Urbanica Incorporated at 120 and 122 Hancock Street — parcels held in city inventory since 1981 and 1992. The two Dorchester projects are projected to return a combined $73,195 in annual tax revenue to the city.
