Boston Public Facilities Commission Approves $3M Design Contracts and Four Housing Votes

BOSTON — August 17, 2023 — Boston Public Facilities Commission approves $3 million on-call design contracts and clears three affordable housing projects in a single session. The commission, comprising Commissioners Larry Momoli and Donald Wright with Legal Advisor T.T. Lee presiding, unanimously approved House Doctor consulting services contracts — capped at $3 million per firm over five years — to seven firms across four technical categories including surveying, environmental engineering, building code consulting, and forensic investigation. On the housing side, the commission extended Norfolk Design and Construction LLC's developer designation for eight affordable homeownership units on Elmont and Norwell Streets in Dorchester; designated Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston for a four-unit affordable project at 174-176 Boylston Street in Jamaica Plain at a $100 purchase price; and reinstated the developer designation for Roxbury-based, Black-owned ILYB LLC for two Washington Street parcels in Roxbury at a $200 purchase price, with the city absorbing a $194,800 land cost subsidy. All 20 projected units will be deed-restricted affordable homeownership opportunities targeting households earning between 40 and 100 percent of area median income.
