Boston Public Facilities Commission Approves Four Contract Amendments in Single Session

BOSTON — January 18, 2023 — Boston Public Facilities Commission approves more than $2 million in contract amendments across four projects. The commission, chaired by Catherine Craven, voted unanimously on all four items at its January 18 meeting. The largest action extended Skanska USA Building's owner's project manager contract for the City Hall Plaza Phase Two renovation by two years through September 19, 2025, and added $1,150,000 to the original $1,825,000 contract. Director Carrie Griffin also presented a $25,650 increase to Design Lab Architects' contract for the Curley Community Center renovation at 1663 Columbia Road in South Boston, bringing that total to $2,618,936.75, with project manager Scott Dupree saying interior and exterior punch list work is expected to close around February 1. Project manager Ellen Gizinec secured two amendments totaling $877,604 to keep design and construction administration work moving at four Boston Public Schools enrolled in the 2021 MSBA Accelerated Repair Program — the Boston Day and Evening Academy, Rafael Hernandez K School, William E. Russell Elementary, and William B. Anderson Upper School — while a second city appropriation works through the Council approval process.
