Boston School Committee unanimously re-elects Robinson as chair for 2024

BOSTON — January 3, 2024 — Boston School Committee unanimously re-elects Jeri Robinson as chair and Michael O'Neill as vice chair for 2024. The committee's annual organizational meeting, held virtually on Zoom on January 3, also approved the full 2024 meeting calendar, with sessions running virtually through March before returning to hybrid format at the Bolling Building in April. Mayor Michelle Wu reappointed members Ms. Polanco-Garcia and Ms. Lima-Barbosa to new four-year terms ahead of the meeting; Polanco-Garcia, the committee's first Spanish-dominant member, addressed colleagues bilingually, saying "there is a lot of work to do, especially with the English language learners" and crediting Wu's "inclusive vision" for her continued seat. O'Neill, thanking nominator Mr. Tran after his unanimous re-election, said the committee is "united in trying to do the right thing — improve the educational opportunities for the students in our care."
