Boston School Committee Unanimously Renews Superintendent Skipper's Contract Through 2030
BOSTON — October 29, 2025 — Boston School Committee extends Superintendent Skipper's contract through 2030 and approves $51 million in grants. The committee voted 5-0 Wednesday night to renew Superintendent Mary Skipper's employment agreement through June 30, 2030, setting her 2025-26 salary at $324,643 — a 3 percent increase from $315,188 — plus a $60,000 annual annuity and a $650 monthly travel stipend. Chair Lorna Robinson, who led negotiations alongside the mayor's legal team, cited the end of state improvement plan requirements and bus on-time performance consistently above 95 percent as evidence the district has stabilized under Skipper's three-year tenure. The committee also unanimously approved seven grants totaling $51,275,187, the largest being nearly $41 million in Title I funds for more than 42,000 economically disadvantaged students. More than two hours of public testimony — dominated by opposition — preceded a scheduled but unvoted exam school admissions policy change, with speakers citing a feedback process that reached fewer than 326 respondents in a district of nearly 48,000 students, and a coalition analysis showing that both weighting scenarios under consideration would reduce invitations to Black, Latino, and economically disadvantaged students.
