BPDA Board Approves $5.5 Million in Marine Park Construction Contracts

BOSTON — December 12, 2024 — Boston's EDIC board unanimously approved more than $5.5 million in Marine Park construction contracts and reset stalled waterfront development plans at its December 12 meeting. The largest action was a $4,367,474.10 contract with South Coast Improvement Company to repair the crumbling loading dock at 12 Channel Street, a former U.S. Navy storehouse; the board also amended a Gale Associates design contract to $401,200 to cover additional oversight of the same project. Lee Kennedy Construction Incorporated received a $1,144,000 contract to build out office space at the same address for relocated Planning Department staff. The board voted to re-issue an RFP for the long-term vacant Parcel M waterfront site after rescinding Eastern Salt Inc.'s five-times-extended tentative designation, with a new RFP targeted for January 2025. A six-month extension was granted to Lincoln Property Company and Quaker Lane Capital for Parcel U, which is slated to include a Boston Fire Department firehouse. The board also transferred a 10,000-square-foot Roxbury workforce development lease at 7 Palmer Street to the City of Boston, effective January 1, 2025.
