BPDA Board Awards 402-Unit Roxbury Housing Project to Related Beal and Dream Development
BOSTON — April 11, 2024 — BPDA board unanimously awards 402-unit mixed-income housing complex to Related Beal and Dream Development in Roxbury's Nubian Square. The board voted to grant the team tentative designation for redevelopment of roughly 190,000 square feet of Boston Water and Sewer Commission parking lots on Harrison Street, with 89 percent of the 402 units to be income-restricted, including 79 homeownership units, 229 rentals, and 94 senior housing units. Chair Priscilla Rojas praised the development team's "authentic and equitable" partnership and said the project would create "generational change." The board also authorized petitioning the Zoning Commission to establish Squares and Streets zoning districts in Mattapan — the first neighborhood citywide to receive the new framework — and approved Phase 1B of the Core on the Dot life science campus on Dorchester Avenue, totaling approximately 1.386 million square feet. Director Arthur Jemison said the night's five approved development projects represented roughly 1.9 million square feet of new construction, 161 income-restricted units, and an estimated $820 million in total developer cost.
