Boston PFC Approves $1.7M in School Repair and Library Design Contracts

BOSTON — March 26, 2025 — Boston Public Facilities Commission clears more than $1.7 million in contracts for eight school repairs and a new library design. At the March 26 meeting, commissioners Larry Mamoli and Donald Wright unanimously approved six consultant contracts tied to the Massachusetts School Building Authority's 2024 Accelerated Repair Program, covering window replacements at Chittick Elementary, Gardner Pilot Academy, Linden K-8, Adams Elementary, Everett Elementary, and Murphy K-8, and roof work at Kenney Elementary and O'Donnell Elementary; individual contract awards ranged from $20,000 for OPM services to $245,000 for architectural design. The commission also approved a $1,486,500 design and construction administration contract to Westwork LLC — a women's, minority-, and veteran-owned firm — for the West End Branch Library at 151 Cambridge Street, part of a mixed-use development that will include 119 affordable units, with an estimated construction cost of $14.2 million. On the Mayor's Office of Housing side, commissioners extended the tentative developer designation for the Lewis D. Brown Peace Institute in Dorchester from 24 to 36 months; the nonprofit has secured a $2.5 million state bond bill earmark toward a 20,000-square-foot community healing center in the Four Corners neighborhood.
