Boston PIC approves 12 holiday art installations in Downtown Crossing streets

BOSTON — November 21, 2024 — Boston's Public Improvement Commission unanimously approved a 12-sculpture holiday art installation project in the Downtown Crossing corridor at its November 21 meeting. Michael Nichols, president of the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District — which announced Thursday it is rebranding as the Downtown Boston Alliance — presented the project alongside Ryan Gordon of Niche Engineering. The installations are planned at five locations on Washington Street between Avenue de Lafayette and Milk Street, one location on Winter Street near Winter Place, four on the Summer Street Plaza, and two on the Franklin Street Plaza facing Washington Street. The only change since the commission's November 7 hearing was a single statue on Summer Street shifted from one side of a light pole to the other. No members of the public attended, and the full meeting concluded in under five minutes.
