Public Facilities · Meeting of October 28, 2026

BOSTON — Public Facilities Commission approved a three-year Dorchester warehouse lease for the city's bicycle fleet. Commissioners Larry Mammoli and Donald Wright voted 2-0 on a roll call to let the Transportation Department lease about 5,384 square feet at 25 Beach Street from Work, Inc. Boston Bikes Director Kim Foltz said the space will store and maintain roughly 500 bicycles, replacing 12 Channel Street, which the nonprofit had provided free since 2014.

Year-one rent is $35,000, with 3 percent annual increases, for $108,181.50 over the initial term. Foltz said the average of $6.70 per square foot is "easily a third of the market rate." Work Inc. was the only bidder, and the lease carries two three-year renewal options.
