Public Improvement Commission · Meeting of October 22, 2026
Boston's Public Improvement Commission approved four petitions, including a Charlestown duct bank route for a 700-megawatt Everett battery project. Jupiter Power Vice President Hans Detweiler said the line would "provide enough power for about half a million homes," while VHB's Howard Mosher committed to fully rebuilding a pedestrian curb ramp affected by construction. The commission also unanimously approved an earth retention license at 8 Bernie Street in Roxbury and a pedestrian easement and specific-repairs plan for a 80 Gardner Street expansion in Brighton.
In new business, Joe O'Farrell outlined joint Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center petitions for a 300-bed cancer hospital in the Longwood Medical Area, saying regional bed shortages have led to "longer emergency room waits" for cancer patients; no vote was recorded on that item.
