Boston PIC Approves Five Street Petitions Spanning Roxbury, Downtown, and Theater District

BOSTON — May 9, 2024 — Boston's Public Improvement Commission unanimously approved five street and easement petitions in an 18-minute hearing on May 9, clearing the way for projects in Roxbury, the Theater District, and downtown. The commission approved specific repairs at 190 Dudley Street in Roxbury, where Renna Enterprises is building a 32,540-square-foot mixed-use building with 24 residential units, and approved both a pedestrian easement and street reconstruction package for FPG LaGrange Owner 1 LLC's 167-unit condominium tower at 55 LaGrange Street — a project completed in 2022 that had been awaiting final PIC sign-off before receiving a permanent certificate of occupancy. The Holocaust Legacy Foundation secured approval for a vertical discontinuance of two architectural projections above 125 Tremont Street — a 69-square-foot corner window element and a 114-square-foot wire mesh facade piece — as well as a full package of sidewalk, bollard, bike rack, and groundwater recharge improvements on Tremont Street; attorney Mike Ross told the commission the foundation has engaged CBRE to value the discontinuance area and has resolved access concerns raised by Live Nation, operator of the adjacent Orpheum Theatre.
