Boston PIC Approves National Grid Gas Stations, Defers West Roxbury Housing Over ADA Dispute

BOSTON — December 4, 2025 — Boston Public Improvement Commission approves seven petitions and defers three others at December 4 hearing. The commission, chaired by Interim Chief of Streets Nick Gove, unanimously approved National Grid grants of location for gas regulator stations serving approximately 4,800 customers in Brighton and 11,500 customers in Roxbury, a Boston University canopy replacement at 700 Commonwealth Avenue, and pedestrian easement and specific repairs petitions for a 240-unit apartment building at 250 Everett Street in Brighton. A 27-unit mixed-use development at 635 Hyde Park Ave in West Roxbury was continued to December 18 after Commission for Persons with Disabilities representative Sarah Lyon said she still needed confirmation in writing that the developer would seek a Massachusetts Architectural Access Board variance — a standoff that drew pushback from project attorney John Pugini, who said he had transmitted the commitment during the meeting itself. A 90-unit development on Boston Street in Dorchester was also continued pending ramp grade documentation, and a Charlestown coastal flood barrier system on Main Street — including permanent concrete walls and deployable stop logs designed to protect against the 2030 one-percent storm event — is scheduled for public hearing on December 18.
