Boston PIC Approves Seven Street and Easement Petitions Across Six Neighborhoods

BOSTON — January 30, 2025 — Boston's Public Improvement Commission unanimously approved seven public-way petitions at its January 30 meeting while advancing three major projects to public hearings on February 13. Chair Yasha Franklin-Hodge led the board through approvals covering bike-lane and ADA ramp upgrades on Tremont Street and Charles Street South, paired easement and specific-repair votes for residential projects at 3326-3328 Washington Street in West Roxbury and 34 Oak Street in Hyde Park, a contingent telecommunications grant of location for Verizon, Comcast, and Astound near the Mary Ellen McCormick development in South Boston, and MBTA accessibility work in Charlestown. In new business, the MBTA presented its Symphony Station Phase 2 project — four new elevators, rebuilt head houses, an emergency egress, and a city-designed elevated bike lane on Mass Ave — calling it among the last Green Line accessibility upgrades remaining. The commission also flagged concerns about co-petitioner Joseph R. Sullivan 2010 Trust on a 170-unit Brighton development, citing an unbuilt prior PIC approval, and requested a written statement clarifying the trust's role as a land seller only.
