Boston Public Facilities Commission awards five-year house doctor consulting contracts to dozens of firms

BOSTON -- May 17, 2023, Boston Public Facilities Commission approves five-year house doctor contracts and $1.7 million in school repair amendments. The commission, chaired by Catherine Craven and joined by Commissioner Larry Maloney, voted unanimously Wednesday to award on-call design consulting contracts to more than two dozen firms for city facilities from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028, with individual architecture contracts capped at $5 million and specialty contracts capped at $3 million each over the five-year term. The board also unanimously approved a $544,487 increase to Anzor Advisory's owner's project manager contract and a $1,178,106 increase to Habibian Associates Incorporated's design contract, both tied to the 2021 Massachusetts School Building Authority Accelerated Repairs Program at four Boston Public Schools in Roxbury and Dorchester, work backed by a state project funding agreement of $22,580,546. A personnel vote approved Carlton Jones as the department's first deputy director, a newly created position. Several firms originally listed for the house doctor awards, including BSC Group Incorporated and Weston and Sampson Engineers, were tabled from Wednesday's vote.
