Boston Commission Approves $191,400 Amendment for Quincy School Envelope Repairs

BOSTON -- March 27, 2024, Boston approves $191,400 contract amendment for Josiah Quincy Elementary School envelope work. The Public Facilities Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to increase its design and construction administration contract with Gale Associates Incorporated from roughly $680,000 to $871,105, extending the deadline through March 24, 2025. Project Manager Wayne McKenzie told Commissioners Larry Momoli and Donald Wright that school parking constraints forced construction into phases, extending administration time, while unforeseen corrosion at two rooftop penthouse structures required additional structural evaluation and waterproofing design. The contract covers roof replacement, window installation, and waterproofing at 885 Washington Street in Chinatown, and is now in its second amendment since original approval in July 2020.
