Boston PFC approves 86 affordable units and closes out decade-long school project

BOSTON -- August 28, 2024, Boston Public Facilities Commission approved seven votes August 28, adding 86 affordable homeownership units and closing out the Josiah Quincy Upper School construction contract. Commissioner President Larry Mamoli presided over two back-to-back sessions: PFD Senior Project Manager Ellen Giesinek secured unanimous approval for a fifth and final $400,000 amendment to the Skanska USA Building Inc. owners project manager contract for the Quincy Upper School at 900 Washington Street, a project that began in 2014 and opens September 3. In the Mayor's Office of Housing session, Deputy Director Rick Wilson's team won approval for six land conveyances, totaling $1,600 in nominal purchase prices, transferring vacant city-owned parcels in Roxbury and Dorchester to developers under the Welcome Home Boston initiative; five projects are on track to begin construction by year-end 2024, with ACEDOM's Erie Street and Glenway Street project in Dorchester slated for the second quarter of 2025. Tiara Satchbell noted NS Partners LLC received sole-applicant status and community support for its 15-unit Blue Hill Avenue project, while Antonio Lish highlighted that Dorchester Design Collaborative is an M&WBE certified firm meeting the city's diversity and inclusion goals.
