Boston PIC Clears Hyde Park Avenue Mixed-Use Project's Final Street Approvals

BOSTON — November 6, 2025 — Boston's Public Improvement Commission approved three street petitions for a 115-unit mixed-use development at 1690 to 1700 Hyde Park Avenue during its November 6 meeting, clearing the project's final regulatory hurdles at the commission. West Boylston Investments LLC received unanimous approval for a roughly eight-foot right-of-way widening, a 316-square-foot vertical discontinuance for a canopy projecting four feet over the sidewalk, and a comprehensive package of specific street repairs including a new bike lane, permeable pavers, and street trees. Project attorney Dennis Quilty rebutted a public comment from Craig Martin of the Hyde Park Neighbor Association — who called the lack of direct notification about roadway changes "patently unfair" — by citing meetings with State Senator Rush, State Representative Consalvo, District City Councilor Pepin, and the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services, whose local representative Zoe Petty provided written sign-off. The commission also unanimously approved utility conduit petitions from Verizon New England on Heath Street and Highland Street in Roxbury, and continued an Eversource transformer vault petition for 16 Whitby Street in East Boston to November 20 while legal paperwork is resolved. A Depression-era WPA stone wall on the Hyde Park Avenue project site is stipulated for preservation under the BPDA board approval memo.
