Boston PIC Unanimously Approves Brighton Easement, Repairs and New South Boston Street

BOSTON — March 26, 2026 — Boston's Public Improvement Commission cleared three development-related public-way petitions in a single session Thursday. The commission, chaired by Boston's Interim Chief of Streets, unanimously approved both a pedestrian easement and a specific-repairs package for 120 Braintree LLC's new building at 120 Braintree Street in Brighton, then accepted New Cypher Street in South Boston as a city roadway on a petition by the Massachusetts Port Authority. Brad McKenzie of McKenzie Engineering Group described the Brighton work as covering curb and sidewalk reconstruction, new accessible ramps, street trees including red maples, bike racks, and a raised crosswalk on Braintree Street, saying his team had "worked with various city agencies and commissions" and incorporated all feedback. A Massport representative called the South Boston street acceptance "a culmination of a long cooperative effort between the city, the state, and Massport."
