Boston Public Facilities Commission Approves Four Contract and Housing Votes Wednesday

BOSTON — August 27, 2025 — Boston's Public Facilities Commission approved eight votes at its August 27 meeting spanning lease transfers, design contract increases, and housing actions. The largest dollar action was a $1,186,126.24 second amendment to Cambridge Seven Associates Incorporated's design contract for the 26 Court Street renovation in downtown Boston, raising the cumulative contract to $9,865,839.24 and extending it through January 28, 2026, with Senior Project Manager Gregory Rideout noting PFD reserves the right to execute "for a lower dollar amount and for a shorter period." Two additional votes covered the William E. Carter School in the South End, adding $368,500 to owner's project manager firm LeRoy Program and Construction Management PEPC and $331,395 to design firm Perkins and Will Architects, with both increases tied to electric utility delivery delays and structural modifications required by the site's roughly 10-foot proximity to MBTA and Amtrak lines. The Mayor's Office of Housing secured approval to accept back six vacant Mattapan parcels from a developer who determined construction was no longer financially feasible, and won a fifth 12-month extension for the People's Academy's tentative designation on three Roxbury parcels — now in its sixth year — with Commissioner Momoli warning he wants "more concrete action" before the next potential extension.
